I had a wonderful experience at this hotel. From the moment I arrived, everything was excellent—the service, the cleanliness of the facilities, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere. The entire staff was friendly, attentive, and always willing to help, which made my stay truly special. I would like to give special recognition to the animator Yenifer D’aza, who provided outstanding service. Her charisma, energy, and professionalism made every activity fun and memorable. She was always smiling, spreading joy, and making every guest feel comfortable and included. Her dedication and exceptional attitude truly made a difference in our experience. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for comfort, great service, and a lively, enjoyable atmosphere.

I find the personnel very moody and even aggressive. I’ve been to dozens of Caribbean islands and have never seen this before. They almost never bring your drinks during dinner, unless you are drinking the house wine, and even then it’s hit or miss. Same with water. At the non reservable restaurants and particularly during lunch, there is no service at all. You ask for drinks, they say yes and they never bring them. There is absolutely no service at the beach or pool, just a couple of bars that you have to get in line for drinks, even sodas. There are four reservable restaurants, but you cannot reserve before arriving and you can only reserve 4 days in advance, so that’s just false advertising? We managed to make a reservation at a non-reservable restaurant as we were a large group. The reservation was for 7:15 (after 70 minutes of painfully having to give the person at the desk every single room number). When we got there they told us they needed to change it to 9:15. That particular restaurant was 100% empty other than us. We didn’t badge. We ate but drink service was once again non-existent. They do clean the beach every day from sargasso and they don’t let it smell, but be aware that there is plenty of it.

Our experience at Iberostar was excellent. The staff was welcoming, friendly, and extremely attentive throughout our stay. The 24-hour buffet was always well-stocked with a wide variety of quality food, and the dining area was consistently clean and well-maintained. We were impressed by how diligently the staff worked to keep everything organized and spotless. The energy and ambiance of the resort were vibrant and fun. There was never a shortage of things to do, as the entertainment team offered a great variety of daily activities, including interactive games by the pool and engaging events throughout the property. Their enthusiasm helped create a lively and enjoyable atmosphere for guests of all ages. The resort also made it incredibly easy to explore the surrounding area. Staff members were readily available to coordinate and guide guests through off-property excursions, making the planning process simple, convenient, and stress-free. Overall, Iberostar provided a fun, relaxing, and memorable vacation experience that we would happily recommend to others. In fact, after our 7-day stay, we were not ready to leave. We actually looked into extending our trip and, if it had not been for the high cost of changing our flights, we would have happily stayed another week. That is not something we typically say, no matter where we travel, and speaks volumes about how much we enjoyed our time here.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The ocean and the beach are absolutely amazing — beautiful, clean, and very relaxing. It was the perfect place to enjoy the water and spend time as a family. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. Everyone made us feel comfortable and well taken care of. A special thank you to Ninosca, who was very helpful and gave great recommendations for a fishing trip for my husband. Overall, we truly enjoyed our time here 🌊🦀🏝️

Honest 3-star experience in a great beach location 3/5 stars We stayed for 7 nights at Iberostar Waves Dominicana on an all-inclusive basis. Overall, it was a mixed experience — some areas were excellent, but others fell short of true 5-star standards. The positives were standout: The reception area was clean and welcoming, and the front desk staff (especially Gio) were friendly, helpful, and always went the extra mile. The bar staff were brilliant — great drinks, excellent selection of premium brands, and very friendly service. The swimming pool was clean with plenty of sunbeds. A real highlight was Maria “Drinky Drinky” — what a lovely, happy soul! She served drinks all day with the biggest smile, shouting “I love you!” to guests and bringing so much light and energy to the place. She deserves special recognition for how well she connected with everyone. The gardens were immaculate, and the beach was fantastic — one of the best stretches of Bávaro Beach. The entertainment was great especially Michael Jackson. The food in the buffet restaurant had plenty of tasty options and good variety, but service issues were consistent. Tables were often dirty or not properly set. Dishes were dirty too and they regularly ran out of cutlery, bowls, mugs, and glasses at every meal, no soup bowls or spoons for soup or ice cream (See photos) And the hotel wasn’t even busy, so I wonder how they manage during peak season….. The staff were friendly but clearly need better training on basic tasks like clearing and resetting tables. We only went to eat at the Mexican à la carte. Food was good but not much of a choice. The bedrooms were tired and in need of renovation, although they were cleaned daily. We personally wouldn’t rate this as a 5-star hotel — more like a solid 3-star. That said, the beach location and some wonderful staff (especially the reception staff Juan, Hipolito in the restaurant who always made us welcome, very friendly and made sure he got us a table, Maria and the bar team) made our stay enjoyable. The reception staff do try and sell you a share in Iberostar Hotel and ask you to go to the morning meeting. We did go but wouldn’t recommend it. It’s definitely not worth it, despite their selling techniques. Would we return? Probably not in its current condition, but we appreciated the good moments and did have a great time.
