The resort is very environmentally friendly. There is amazing wildlife roaming the grounds like peacocks, coatis, iguanas and agoutis. They also have flamingo, turtles and monkeys. The fitness classes are world-class with Sergio and Omar. Julio remember us and had a table ready with our beverages. My only negative is the rooms. They are very dated with stucco and no drawers to put your clothes way. The housekeeping is top notch we would go the gym for a class and return to a clean room! Overall great experience!!!

Loved the resort. Beautiful nature and beautiful beach. Rooms were tired, but they are renovating them soon. Negatives.. They offered a beautiful show, but you had to pay for it. Should've been included. No drink services by the pool or beach. Have to get your own.

What a hotel! Amazing resort with a lot of things to offer. The service and the staff are great. Always helpful and make your day special. They have multiple restaurants, each with a different theme. You can go to the different restaurants and never eat the same thing twice. A big thanks to Abisag and Janire who took great care of us! We will definately come back.

This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had—especially considering the price and the expectations that come with being a Diamond member at an IHG property. The entire hotel is severely outdated and poorly maintained. The rooms, pools, and common areas all feel worn down and neglected, with visible signs of age everywhere you look. There is nothing “luxury” or even “upscale” about this property—it feels like it hasn’t been meaningfully updated in years. The so-called Star Prestige lounge was a joke. It’s small, underwhelming, and offers nothing close to a premium experience. The food and beverage options were minimal and far below what you’d expect for the extra cost. It felt like a complete waste of money. Service was not just lacking—it was outright unacceptable. Staff were consistently unfriendly, dismissive, and at times made the environment feel uncomfortable. The treatment I received felt biased and unwelcoming, which is something no guest should ever have to experience. The most alarming part of my stay was that my purse was stolen—and the hotel did essentially nothing to help. No urgency, no real investigation, no meaningful support. For a situation that serious, their response was completely inadequate and frankly shocking. The food across the property was mediocre at best, often served lukewarm and lacking quality. To make matters worse, birds freely roamed the outdoor dining areas, making it feel unsanitary and poorly managed. Cleanliness overall was clearly not a priority. This hotel fails on every level: service, safety, cleanliness, and basic hospitality. It does not come close to justifying its price point or brand affiliation. I would strongly advise others to stay elsewhere—this was an incredibly frustrating and disappointing experience.

We stayed 4 nights at the end of January in a standard room, and Iberostar Waves Tucan gave us an experience that can best be described as… memorable, though not always in the way the brochure suggests. Let’s start with the highlight: The hotel complex itself is genuinely beautiful. It feels like living in a jungle, complete with animals casually roaming around as if they’re part of the all-inclusive package. The beach is excellent, clean, well maintained, with a stunning sunrise that almost makes you forget everything else. Yes, the upper part of the beach near the hotel is a bit rocky, but that’s nature, and nature, unlike some other things here, does not try to relocate your belongings. Which brings me to the most surprising “service feature” of our stay. Two items of clothing (women’s sports tops) mysteriously disappeared from our room after cleaning. When we confronted the cleaning staff the next day, the items were returned with the explanation that they were “mistaken for their cleaning rags.” Other guests strongly advised us not to report this to local management, warning us that doing so might make the rest of our stay noticeably less pleasant. Instead, we were told to mention it in the hotel chain’s official survey (which we did) and to warn future guests in reviews. Helpful tip for future visitors: Please lock everything in the safe. Passport, valuables, electronics… and yes, apparently even your clothes. If it fits in the safe, it belongs in the safe. Now, to balance things out, because balance is important: The buffet restaurant staff were outstanding. Truly. Always friendly, attentive, courteous, and in a good mood. They were easily the most consistently positive part of the entire experience and deserve genuine praise. The food itself, however, was… fine. Not terrible, not great. We’ve eaten much better elsewhere, but we’ve also had worse. It’s food. It does the job. No emotional attachment formed. Conclusion: A beautiful setting, great beach, lovely animals, and excellent buffet staff, paired with a housekeeping experience that made us feel like we were participating in an unintended social experiment. Three stars, because the place has real potential, but potential alone doesn’t keep your wardrobe where you left it.
