This was an ultimate get away. My wife and I spent our 30th anniversary at the over the water bungalow. Talk about a once in a lifetime experience! Such an amazing time! We did make the mistake of arriving in Jamaica Day. (Independence Day equivalent.). Other than that, everything was top notch and extremely memorable! From the snooba experience, the staff, the first class service from start to service. Way too much to describe in a single post!

This was my fourth and final Sandals trip. I feel like the sandals resorts have really fallen off for the price. The food is OK nothing special. The pool was Dirty most days. The room had water spots on the ceiling and the air conditioner didn’t work very well and they said it was working as it should. The The room’s coldest they got was 78°. The highest they got was 84°. The shows are not great. The only thing that was good was the Butler service. So like I said at the beginning, this is my fourth and final trip to sandals resorts. We have stayed at four different resorts and the brand has been in a decline for the last couple years with the price is just going up.

The resort was amazing and worth every penny hands down. Let me start by giving a shout out to Kenny on the entertainment team, he brought so much energy and positive vibes into every event they held, plus he is one heck of a dancer! Hands down my favorite person I met during my week in Jamaica. Everyone else on the entertainment were also amazing and friendly. The singers were talented, The band crushed it and the dancers brought so much energy you couldn’t help but get up and dance with them. I would highly recommend going to any show you have time to attend, as they were all amazing. Even if you think the theme of the night may not quite be your jam, the pure talent of the team as a whole makes it worth going. Next up is the food. It was all some of the best food I’ve had in a very long time. We tried every restaurant/food truck and all of them were incredible. If you’re ever unsure what to get, the servers give great recommendations! The portion sizes can vary, but we left every restaurant full and often didn’t have room leftover for dessert! Fortunately in those situation you can request the dessert to go and still enjoy it a little later. We did splurge for dinner on the beach for our anniversary and if we thought the rest of the food was amazing, dinner on the beach was in a league of its own. The food blew our socks off. Our server Jevon met us at our room, escorted us to the beach and provided amazing service all night. Each course arrived right as we finished the prior and Jevon was nothing but friendly through the whole experience. Speaking of friendly staff, that is how I would describe every employee of the resort that I interacted with! Everyone from Club concierge staff to the gentleman who brought the bags to our room were wonderful. There was at least a dozen staff members who remembered us by name and regularly checked in on us when they saw us in passing. Everyone was so friendly and helpful it truly does feel like your “home away from home”. The only negative experience I had was during our first night at the resort. One of the housekeepers rang our doorbell a couple times in rapid succession at 9:30pm as we were falling asleep, but based on the rest of our experience this can be easily overlooked. I assumed it just wasn’t communicated that there was a guest in the room and the house keeper was very apologetic. Overall I would recommend this resort to anyone considering it.

We LOVE SSC. The ride there is a little rough for those who get car sick. Hiring a private driver helps. The resort is so spread out that it never feels crowded. The staff is always friendly. The grounds are stunning and there are plenty of palapas along the beach that people don’t have to fight over chairs. And I love how long the beach is, so guests are not right on top of each other. Some people complain about the seagrass, but it’s a natural habitat and there is a great swimming area down past the bungalows.

Sandals called to advise we would not be able to travel to south coast after the hurricane, which is completely understandable. They advised we could cancel or switch resorts. The only option available was a resort our airline did not fly too. We have trip insurance for the flights and resort. We asked for documentation to provide the travel insurance company (which is required by our policy) so we could cancel the flight, and get a refund to go to the other location a week later. We were told they would not provide us any documentation and said they were not “forcing” us to cancel or move resorts. Well since you’re moving all reservations and not allowing people on site, sounds like canceling. We were willing to go to another location and move scheduled vacations and work with our employers but they will not provide and email saying they had to move/cancel or reservations so we can provide that to our trip insurance company. We have vacationed with sandals many times and will not be returning.
