We had a wonderful stay here. The reception staff at check in were welcoming and efficient. We were lucky enough to have a spacious room on the ground floor which was clean and bright and which provided large bottles of toiletries for use during our stay. The room was well serviced daily although I would have been happier if towels weren’t replaced daily despite being hung up. The pool area overlooks the beach but is quiet and peaceful. Maybe a few more sunbeds for the number of guests at the hotel. Being Able to order at your sunbed using a qr code is handy. Breakfast was fine. Fruit, bread, cured meats and cheese and sufficient hot options. Very friendly waiting staff as well. The piano bar in the evening is the place to be With amazing views over the bay and hard working waiting staff doing their best to keep us all happy. The gym is a bit small. Maybe could do with an outside covered area with more equipment. I know we all have EarPods, but some livelier music in the gym would not go amiss. All in all, we loved it here and would come back in a heartbeat. Thank you Villamil!

Appalling Experience, Certainly Not a 5-Star Hotel! I booked six nights at Hotel Villamil in a frontal sea-view room, expecting a five-star experience. Unfortunately, the hotel was a huge disappointment. My overall impression was that the hotel is very dated and desperately needs refurbishment. My room had an unpleasant, musty, mouldy smell, and the facilities were far below what I would expect from a hotel of this category. To make matters worse, a bucket had been placed in the corridor outside my room to collect rainwater leaking through the roof. Alarmingly, the water was coming through right next to a ceiling light fitting. On day four, the electricity in my room failed. Resetting the fuse did not solve the problem, and an electrician was called. I was told I had to wait until the affected area had dried before I could switch the light back on. When I asked reception to move me to another room, I was told nothing was available. The response was arrogant and dismissive, without even the slightest apology. That evening, the area appeared to have dried, and I was able to switch the light back on. However, just an hour later, the electricity failed again. Only after another discussion with reception was I finally offered a different room, but this was an inferior room without a balcony, despite having paid for a frontal sea-view room. No apology, no compensation, no gesture of goodwill. Absolutely nothing. What concerns me most is the apparent lack of attention to electrical safety. Water leaking close to electrical fittings, followed by repeated electrical failures, is a serious concern. I genuinely question whether parts of this hotel would pass a thorough fire and electrical safety inspection. For a hotel advertising itself as five-star, the condition of the property, the handling of a potentially dangerous situation and the attitude of reception staff were completely unacceptable. An appalling experience. Five-star prices, but certainly not five-star standards or service.

We spent a wonderful 5 nights at the hotel. We stayed in a swim-up room and, although the weather wasn’t the best during our stay, I still made the most of the “private pool” as the water temperature was very pleasant. The ambiance of the hotel was fantastic, with spacious and clean rooms, a great breakfast selection, and plenty of delicious food choices in all the restaurants, including the buffet. The staff were amazing — a special thank you to Diego at reception, as well as Matias, Camila, and of course the lovely Monika. Nothing was ever too much trouble. We also used the spa facilities, and the deep tissue massage by an Argentinian lady (sorry, I can’t remember your name) was excellent. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would happily return.

Overall had a good stay, but I don’t think it quite justifies the 5-star price tag. The hotel has a lot of character, is kept very clean and the staff were friendly throughout our stay. However, it’s definitely showing its age in places and could do with a refresh, particularly the bathrooms. We had a disappointing start as we were initially given a Junior Suite instead of the Double Deluxe Frontal Sea View room we had specifically booked. The room itself was fine, but it was directly below the breakfast restaurant and we were woken early by chairs scraping across the floor above us. To be fair to the hotel, they moved us when we raised the issue and the second room was exactly what we’d hoped for. The pool loungers were usually claimed early, although that’s no different to most hotels these days. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and the location is excellent. Just be aware that Paguera is very geared towards German tourists, with lots of German bars, restaurants and pubs. Nothing wrong with that, but if you’re looking for a more authentically Spanish atmosphere, it’s worth bearing in mind.

The rooms are clean but some rooms like ours was far away from entrance and restaurants. Also, be advise there are a number of room without ocean view. However, property is beautiful, service excellent, food is ok, nothing gourmet but fresh and good variety for breakfast. Ocean is not very great for swimming as it is very shallow and due to heat this summer was too warm and not clear. Other parts on the island were better. One annoying thing is people taking over the chairs at the pool and keeping them, leaving some stuff behind, all day long.
