This place was very good. The best memories I had were at the piano bar facing the stage. At night they had a karaoke session and looking at the stage you could see the houses lit up on the mountains that sit across from the bay. That was fabulous! Room service was good. We had a shrimp bar right outside of our room and the staff was very kind.

They cancelled my reservation without any notice. I did not receive an email or a phone call, and did not get a refund. Just simply found out my reservation was cancelled on my own. Would have flown all the way to Jamaica had I not double checked my Hyatt account. You would think you could call and get it fixed, but their customer service line goes on hold for hours and no one ever picks up! Literally 3 hours spent in the hold queue and no one ever picks up.

Disgusting hotel. Roaches near food. They cannot follow simple instructions to just leave room service in the box quietly. They will beat on your door, desperate for a tip. And they are liars. They panicked when my wife slipped on their floor and offered us 3 nights free, only to retract the offer and deny it after we left. In fact, they are so bad that we won the dispute and they had to refund the ENTIRE cost of our stay. Do yourself a favor, avoid Secrets at any cost.

This resort turned out to be one of the most disappointing vacations I’ve ever taken. I’m sharing this so others can avoid the same mistake. Don’t be fooled by the glowing reviews — many are incentivized, which hides what guests actually go through here. When we arrived, we were told our assigned room was “no longer available” and were suddenly transferred to another resort (St. Orchid). We were told it was because of “construction,” but that story fell apart when we discovered Secrets St. James was still open and guests were staying there. They had clearly overbooked and simply moved us elsewhere. The entire property is dated and poorly cared for, with visible wear and tear everywhere. Bugs in the rooms, maintenance staff soliciting tips, and people openly selling drugs on-site made us feel completely unsafe. To make matters worse, staff even asked to take drinks from our in-room fridge and cooler — something I’ve never experienced anywhere else. The much-advertised $200 resort coupon is a complete gimmick. It can only be used in small pieces toward hugely inflated spa prices, and staff constantly push spa services to the point of harassment. Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere — this resort is not five-star quality and is far from the relaxing luxury getaway it claims to be.
