Starting with the positives… The location is superb, situated a 5 minute drive from the beautiful town of Alvor and only a 10 minute walk from the nearest beach. We used the hotel transfer several times during our stay and it was highly convenient. Housekeeping were great and provided clean towels every day. Mad Med restaurant was fantastic and leagues above the other restaurants. We visited on an evening where Portuguese chicken and chips was being served and it felt authentic. The staff were great too. The kids’ pool features 4 slides and was a real hit with our 3.5 year old. She spent hours on the slides every day. Negatives: On arrival the reception area was incredibly busy and we didn’t experience anyone being there to greet or welcome us in the way that we have with other hotels. There were only 2 front of house staff dealing with a mix of people checking in as well as existing guests with queries. There was a significant queue of people and I can only assume that front of house consider this “normal”, as they didn’t seem phased by it or appear to do anything about it. Why not have more people on front of house during busy periods, and why not dedicate some staff specifically to checking in guests and others to answering guest queries? On the contrary, there were two women sat at the guest relations desks who didn’t appear to be helping anyone. When we were finally seen to, we were told our room wasn’t ready. We arrived early, so this was fair enough, but we were also told we would get a message when the room was ready and never received this. When we returned to reception about an hour later, it was just as busy as before, so we asked the guest relations person if they could help and they gave us our room keys. We weren’t, however, given any explanation of where things were in the hotel, no briefing on restaurants, and no information about the pool towel situation, which we later found out about when going to collect towels and being told we needed cards. Our room was fine. It was more or less true to what we’d seen in the pictures, although I would say it looked a little tired and was in need of some TLC. It also smelt a little musty and we weren’t met with that clean hotel room smell that you expect when opening the door to your hotel room for the first time. The bathroom was clean, but there was black mould in the corners. It just missed the bar slightly in terms of feeling luxurious, and I do feel the pictures paint a slightly more luxurious image. We really struggled with the food. The Italian restaurant in particular was pretty poor. Everything lacked flavour and we were told that the fish is reheated rather than freshly grilled. Potentially our expectations were too high, but it was bad enough that we picked at the starters and completely left the mains. The manager of the restaurant was very friendly and did his utmost to rectify our experience, which we appreciated. All in all, I think it’s a good family style hotel, especially for people with young kids and could be even better with some small improvements being made.

I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. I would describe it as putting lipstick on a pig! Beautiful looking resort but doesn’t live up to 5 star standards. We had a nitemare with an ant infestation in our room. Swarm of ants nests behind our beds. No apology, no free drink, they just moved us. This isn’t 5 star treatment! Theres no variation at the buffet for breakfast and lunch. Theres only really 2 restaurants that do different food so choice is limited onsite. We’ve ended up eating out 3 out of the 6 days! Theres also a ‘premium’ package which anyone we speak to doesn’t see much value for money. They expected drinks to be delivered to them at the pool etc but that’s not the case. Alvor itself is beautiful though with lots of caves to explore!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this resort and it truly exceeded our expectations. The location is stunning, set in a beautiful area and just a short distance from a gorgeous beach, making it perfect for both relaxation and exploring. The resort caters brilliantly to all age groups, with multiple swimming pools and plenty of activities to enjoy. There’s something for everyone from tennis and mini golf to a fun play beach area making it especially ideal for families. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff were consistently friendly, helpful, and attentive throughout our stay. One of the standout features was the incredible food selection. The variety was exceptional, with dishes inspired by different regions around the world, ensuring there was always something new and delicious to try. The ice cream bar was a hit, and having drinks available all day added to the overall convenience and enjoyment. A particularly memorable highlight was the complimentary tickets to Zoomarine, which made for an amazing day out. The resort also makes it easy to explore nearby attractions—the famous Benagil Caves are just a few minutes away, and the convenient pick-up and drop-off service arranged through guest relations was seamless and hassle-free. Overall, this resort truly deserves its 5-star rating. It offers a perfect blend of comfort, entertainment, and exceptional service, and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable getaway.

We recently returned from our vacation at the amazing Tivoli Alvor. Our children were also delighted with their stay, the pools, the entertainment, and the mini disco. All our requests at reception were answered and fulfilled. The entire hotel staff were very helpful and smiling. We would especially like to thank Maria from Guest Relations, who deserves a special mention. Her help and tips made our stay in Portugal so memorable. In our opinion, Maria not only does a wonderful job as a hotel representative but also represents Portugal wonderfully. We hope to return to this beautiful place!

What an amazing holiday we had awesome time at the inclusive hotel service was great and the atmosphere was amazing. Plenty of things to eat and drink. They had many pools unfortunately none of them were heated. The kids pool was very cold but they had the slides there so they weren’t too bothered. Restaurant food was amazing plenty of options in the buffet and the à la carte would highly recommend visiting here. I would definitely revisiting again. The gym had plenty of equipment also and the spa was great too.
