We recently had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The property was well maintained, the atmosphere was relaxing, and the food was excellent. What truly made our stay special was the outstanding hospitality of the staff. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and genuinely cared about our comfort. A special thanks to Kumara by the pool, who regularly checked on us and even offered to take beautiful family photos, helping us capture some wonderful memories. We also appreciate the restaurant, room service, and housekeeping teams for their excellent service and attention to detail. Overall, a fantastic experience, and we would happily recommend this hotel to others.

We had such a great stay here. The staff were incredibly friendly and always happy to help, which really made a difference. They also had local performers come and dance by the pool. One of our favorite touches was having local artists come to the hotel to sell their art, we bought a few pieces and loved being able to take that experience home with us. The food was excellent, both breakfast and dinner, and Chef Ranga truly makes the best salads. We also had our laundry done during our stay, and it came back clean, perfectly ironed, and ready the very same day, all for a really affordable price. Overall, a wonderful stay with amazing views. We’d happily come back.

I recently stayed at Cinnamon Citadel Kandy and would like to share my experience. The property is beautifully located next to the river, and being part of the renowned Cinnamon brand naturally sets high expectations. Overall, the service and promptness of the team were good, and the reception staff were courteous and helpful. However, there are a few areas that need immediate attention. The breakfast experience at the 1st floor restaurant was unfortunately below the standards expected from a property of this reputation. The food quality, presentation, and overall service did not reflect the Cinnamon brand experience. What was more disappointing was that many staff members appeared frustrated, and this was noticeable in their interactions and service delivery. I also shared my concerns with the chef, hoping for acknowledgment and corrective action, but the response I received was disappointing: “What do you want me to do?” A more professional and empathetic response would have helped preserve the brand’s reputation and guest confidence. On the positive side, the Chutneys restaurant was simply superb. The hospitality, food quality, and overall dining experience there were excellent and truly commendable. The property itself feels a bit dated and would benefit from renovation and better upkeep. Additionally, the reception team seemed unclear about how the loyalty/points system works, though I would not personally blame them as this may be due to a lack of proper training or communication. In summary, Cinnamon Citadel Kandy is a pleasant property for a short one-night stay because of its location and certain positives, but I would hesitate to recommend it for a longer stay unless improvements are made, especially in the food and guest service experience. Food plays a major role in any hotel stay, and I sincerely hope the management takes this feedback seriously. Perhaps adopting some of the standards and practices seen at Cinnamon Lodge Habarana could help elevate the guest experience here. Thank you

Cinnamon Citadel Kandy dinner buffet was a mixed experience with some good highlights and a few odd moments. The food was generally good, and there were lots of action stations which made the dining experience more interactive and interesting. However, the overall spread still didn’t feel very wide compared to what you might expect from a hotel buffet, and I didn’t expect that from a Cinnamon hotel. There were enough options to enjoy a meal, but not a huge variety. The desserts stood out more since they were placed in a cold air conditioned room, which made that section feel more enjoyable and refreshing. Tea and coffee were included with the desserts, which was a nice touch after the meal. The staff were kind and polite, and the place was clean and well maintained. The hotel has an open layout with airy spaces inside, giving a relaxed atmosphere. However, there was one unusual interaction with a server who was serving water. He started talking quite personally and showed a Facebook video of his daughter in a viral clip from a salon related setting. It felt a bit unexpected and out of place during the dining experience. Overall, the food was okay and the environment is nice in terms of space and layout, especially the open design, but the buffet itself could improve in terms of variety.

Sasi at the Citadel All Day Dining outlet provides truly excellent service. He is always friendly, attentive, and very professional with guests. From the moment you arrive, he makes you feel welcome and comfortable. Sasi pays great attention to detail and is always ready to help with a smile. His positive attitude and dedication to good service really enhance the dining experience. It’s staff members like Sasi who make visiting Citadel special. His hospitality and commitment to guest satisfaction are outstanding.
