We recently had lunch at Chutneys inside the Cinnamon Citadel Hotel with my parents and grandmother, and as a fully vegan family, we initially found the menu quite challenging. Unfortunately, the menu was not very vegan-friendly and had very limited vegetable-based options. However, what truly made our experience exceptional was the incredible service and care we received. Chef Chathura personally came out to speak with us and was kind and thoughtful enough to create traditional rice and curry dishes specially to accommodate our dietary restrictions. He was absolutely lovely, checking on us throughout the meal, making sure the food was to our liking, and ensuring we were comfortable. The food he prepared was absolutely delicious and full of flavor, and his sweetness and consideration truly stood out. We were also wonderfully taken care of by the hotel staff, Sandakelum and Samantha, who greeted us warmly and provided excellent service from start to finish. They made sure everything was perfect and went above and beyond to ensure we had a pleasant experience. Despite the initial lack of vegan options, the genuine hospitality, effort, and kindness shown by the entire team made this a memorable dining experience. Highly recommend, and we will definitely visit again. Thank you for the wonderful service!

Our family stayed at the hotel for one night and it was our third visit. Each time, we are reminded why we love coming back. The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable, making it a relaxing stay for all of us. The buffet was delicious with a good variety that satisfied everyone in the family. We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the General Manager, Mr. Charith, and to Mr. Naleen for their attention and hospitality. We also want to appreciate the restaurant team—especially Nissanka, Chef Isuri, and Kasun—who were friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service. Their warm approach and professionalism truly stood out. Thank you as well to all the staff members who assisted us during our stay. We are grateful and look forward to our next visit!

Our stay at this hotel was truly delightful from start to finish. The rooms are impressively spacious, offering plenty of comfort and relaxation, and the balcony view was absolutely beautiful—perfect for enjoying a peaceful moment at any time of day. The lobby sets a wonderful tone with its welcoming atmosphere, and the staff at reception were incredibly warm, friendly, and helpful, making us feel at home right away. One of the highlights of our stay was the dining experience. Both breakfast and dinner were served as buffets, and every meal was delicious with a great variety of options to choose from. The hopper station was an especially fun and tasty experience, and the dessert bar was simply amazing—definitely something we kept going back to! What truly stood out throughout our stay was the kindness and professionalism of the staff. Everyone we interacted with was polite, attentive, and always willing to help, which made our experience even more enjoyable. Overall, we had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay. We would happily recommend this hotel to anyone looking for comfort, great service, and delicious food.

Spent two days at Cinnamon Citadel. The access road leading to the hotel is quite narrow and the road condition is not great, so if you’re coming by car, you need to be a bit careful. This is one of the older hotels in the Cinnamon chain, located facing the Mahaweli River. The location is nice and peaceful, and the river view is a big plus. Room interiors follow an older design, but they are clean and well maintained. The river-facing balcony adds good value, especially in the evenings. The restaurant and food were average. As a local guest, I felt the buffet needs improvement, especially in terms of variety. One thing that stood out was the breakfast setup — basic coffee was available, but if you want a proper coffee or latte, you have to pay extra. This is unusual for a 5-star hotel and feels like a downside. Staff were very friendly and helpful throughout the stay, which made a positive difference. Overall, I can recommend this hotel for its location and service, but there is clear room for improvement, especially with food options and breakfast standards.

We just had a wonderful stay at the hotel, what made the visit extra special were the staff. They made us feel so welcome and special. You could not tell that the area was affected by a cyclone and flooding just over 2 weeks ago. The food was fantastic, clean tidy rooms and fantastic vibes throughout the hotel, all possible because of the amazing staff. Special shout out to Sasi, Kumara and Dhanushka the restaurant manager who came in at every meal to ensure that everything was in order. Thank you again, its staff like you who make vacations and stays extra special.
