My family and I stayed at this DoubleTree this week to go to the Universal Theme Parks. We spent a lot of time picking out a place to stay and debated between staying here or in one of the Universal-owned hotels. Ultimately, price and space won and we picked this property. It turned out GREAT. Better than I expected. We were able to walk to and from Universal Studios and IOA from here. The walk is easy and honestly kind of nice - after being surrounded by people all day, it was nice to walk back to the hotel, away from the crowds, instead of waiting with throngs of people for a bus. To get to Epic Universe, we took an Uber, which was easy and wasn't expensive. The hotel does offer shuttles to and from the parks, which we took back from Epic. The shuttles don't run super frequently so, just something to take into account. Check-in was fast. The hotel breakfast at the Sunshine Cafe was GREAT. Loved, loved, loved it. It is a buffet style and the selection was perfect for us (and our picky 8 year old). Our server, Brenda, was fabulous. It's not a cheap breakfast, but I think the price accurately reflects the value of what you are getting. Also, we paid for the Bed and Breakfast rate for our room, which is a good value compared to paying separately for breakfast each day. The rooms are decent and large. Nothing fancy, a touch drab, but honestly all the other perks more than made up for this. Last year, we went to Universal and stayed at Sapphire Falls and honestly I liked this better. And it's significantly cheaper. Overall, it was a great visit. Well done!

Beautiful hotel! Front desk and concierge staff were incredible! Rooms were great size and clean! Conference area was set up very nicely and perfect for our event (attendee perspective). Only downfalls: pool was too cold, for everyone we chatted with. American Grill staff was mediocre at best. At worst-literally ignored us for 10+ minutes when trying to place a pick-up order. Finally a server from across the bar came to help-he was great.

Super Friendly + courteous staff including front desk staff, Universal kiosk, convenience store! 15 minutes walk to City walk and 5 minute drive to the parks. (Every uber drive was a great experience) Very comfortable Beds, pillows, blankets and large and plush towels. Breakfast is not included and is 30$/person. Housekeeping staff friendly and do a great job! Elevators were a little challenging as only 1/3 worked and the one elevator that worked was super slow.

Our room was updated at one point in time but the bathroom wasn't. The toilet and bathtub I think were the original fixtures when this place originally opened but the room itself was ok. The hot tub was welcoming as the Orlando day time highs were on the cold side. The pool was definitely nice but the water temp was on the icy side. 🥶 Coffee at the Double Locos was some of the worst coffee I've ever had. You can't make bad coffee taste better with Carnation creamers. Good coffee when available needs real coffee cream. Accomodations for the price was reasonable though.

Room service menu is apparently outdated if you follow the QR code. I called room service and asked how do I find the menu, I was instructed to follow the QR code, hit menus and look for the market delivery. I wanted mozz sticks and 2 Stella's, he said $71 and some change.... That didn't make sense. This menu shows mozz sticks $19, stella $10 with a $5 fee and 20% gratuity. The person on the phone corrected that mozz sticks were $22, Stella $14.5 with $5 fee and 22% grat. Instead I ordered a Caesar salad from the bar with "homemade garlic croutons". These croutons are very obviously out of a box. Also paid for a room with a "view of universa"l and I got a view of the other side of the hotel. Front desk refunded $20 for the room, no problem... But that's a bunch of items that just aren't what is advertised. Do better Hilton.
