This hotel was absolutely fabulous. The double room was small, but comfortable with any and every amenity we needed. It was very, very quiet and we rarely heard any noise from outside and never from guests walking above, below, or outside of our room. The location is super close to subway terminals, Penn Station, Times Square, and the Empire State Building. Lots of stores, restaurants, coffee shops, and dispensaries within a 5 minute walk. It also felt very safe for someone new to the big city. None of that compares to the friendliness and helpfulness of the hotel desk staff. Whitney at night was so kind and attentive. She remembered our names and gave us helpful recommendations for food and other activities. Kevin (? I forgot his name because he told me right as we were leaving) was equally kind and helpful. He assisted with securing us transportation for our trip to the airport, helped mail my postcards, and was just impressively kind and approachable. Every staff member we interacted with was courteous and helpful. Overall, just a very satisfying and enjoyable stay. Would definitely stay again and will recommend to every friend I know who travels to Manhattan.

Arlo Midtown is a cool hotel — it’s got a modern vibe, an excellent bar / lounge, and a convenient store to buy snacks / drinks. It’s also super well located, close to everything you could need. Arlo Midtown has a cool elevator system, you simply tap your room card and it tells you want elevator to get in and knows what floor to take you to. In the dozens of elevator rides, we never waited more than 30 seconds for the elevator. The staff are all super friendly, which I value a lot. There are a couple things that they could do to make the guest experience more of an “experience”, though! As an example, they didn’t offer to bring our bags to our room, even after we left our bags with them in storage to explore the city before check in. They do have a bell hop and carts, so I was surprised the bell hop didn’t offer (this would also totally increase his chance of getting tips). The room, although tiny (as expected), was decently laid out, had a massive TV with a super comfortable bed, and was extremely clean. Our only negative experience with the room was that housekeeping didn’t leave us clean towels one of our 4 days and another day, didn’t come until 530PM. They also didn’t leave shower caps or many “extras” in the room, but we called the front desk and got what we needed in less than 5 minutes. Overall, our stay at ARLO was pleasant. It was priced comparatively to other hotels in the area and I don’t have any large complaints.

Perfect location for the major landmarks, as well as train and bus spots. The lobby itself is well designed and coffee shop is amazing. Highly recommend, we will definitely stay here again! As for the rooms, you will most likely be right outside of an elevator so if you’re a light sleeper, ask for a room farthest from one if possible. Our shower also always got water outside of the door onto the floor. Yes we angled the head away, but the door seal just couldn’t keep up, so more towels were used than normal.

Stylish hotel close to Penn Station, theatres, Times Square. Good value for the area. The rooms are small but smart in Eurostyle and the lobby is divided into cozy nooks for conversation. Hardware is black and hues are subdued olive and forest green. Lighting is designed for ambience. The music is contemporary jazz and related hip hop, if rather louder than I prefer. Service from Benjamin was outstanding and enthusiastic. I was happy to give a generous tip, though here is a note: The only improvement would be that the Bill’s guide to tipping should not be based on the after tax, and even if it is, should be calculated correctly—it overstates the tip for each percentage. The highlight for us was the spectacular Tiramisu surrounded by hazelnuts and caramel sauce, topped with a roll of dark chocolate. (See photo and video) We have stayed twice recently with friends, and have made this our go-to hotel for long weekends in the theatre district.

The best team! We had a great time at Arlo Midtown! Thank you so much to the amazing team at the front desk and George! Everyone made us feel welcome and was super friendly! Our dog Sésame was part of the trip and we will be back for sure! Great team, great location, beautiful hotel, great breakfast (shoutout to the berry pancakes and ricotta cream!) Great stay! Our favorite home in NYC!
